The press has moved on but Kerela still suffers the effects of the recent record floods. One of the hardest hit areas in Kerala was the village of Chendamangalam. This once thriving village of handloom weavers has been heavily damaged, with 3 of the 5 co-operatives there completely devastated. An estimated 150 million rupees worth of thread was destroyed. Specializing in traditional clothing, I had the pleasure of photographing this village and brought home more than a few pieces of their fine cloth. Our thoughts are with them. The Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund is collecting donations to help victims of the flooding in Kerala. The link to donate can be found in my story highlight, Kerala Floods.
