sitting down to finish my first full interview with @forbes.
if I told you that career has been more painful than pleasurable would you believe me? You think I have it easy? You think It’s all perfect?

The learning curve is so steep just when you think you’re chillin, things change & shit gets real.
You think representing the Japanese American community is easy? it’s been the gnarliest career path—- I am never good enough. You do not know the criticism I’ve endured. I’m too American, I’m too Japanese, & I will always be different— mixed kid problems. #wabisabi

You say you wanna help, you wanna change, you wanna do something? You say you support women?
Refrain from complaining and get to work. Do something, show me with action. We are entitled to nothing. •
The Japanese have taught me one thing — they do it better. #Kaizen #Gaman all of it. They’re not perfect, but they come pretty damn close.

A nation the size of California, that was once closed off to the rest of the world from 1603-1868 and has still continued to be a world power.

Look to them as an example.... you say you want to be someone great? Look to those who are teaching & leading by example. I’m in awe over experience, endurance, real life resumes & education.
I am vastly and greatly humbled by how TOUGH they have been on me. Nothing was easy, it’s still a daily challenge.
The six books I wrote will double down to twelve soon & the depths of my heart and work will continue. to grow, to learn and to be. Forge a path of greatness + stop looking around and start looking inside.

There is nothing great about copying or replicating what others do— there is a power and a depth + honesty to being a true creative artist. Be yourself.
