Full moon rising over the Mohave desert in @joshuatreenps - In 2016 I photographed J Tree and a handful of others for @ナショナルジオグラフィック for a story on climate change. I spent a lot of time working in the early morning and late evening hours shooting the flora and landscape, utilizing off camera lighting to bring an illuminated look to the flora and landscape. It’s a style I absolutely love working in and have enjoyed ever since getting my first camera. The statistics on the flora in J Tree are heart breaking- With heat index on the rise coupled with California’s drought, #JoshuaTree’s and Mohave yucca’s are increasingly in danger of dying off. An estimated 90% of j trees in the park could be gone by the year 2100 if this heat and drought trend continues.
