Being underestimated is a part of life. It’s ingrained in us to see the weakness in someone, to base their value on how they make you feel right at the start, no time for development or understanding. Even in Hollywood the basic process is “don’t give’em a reason to say no.” That’s not the right approach.. to consider what your lacking as opposed to what you bring to the table.
Every step of the way I was told “not gonna happen” and those words became my fuel.
I wanna host SNL.. I was told no.
I would like to play arenas.. I was told it’s out of my reach.
I wanted to produce.. I wasn’t a film student so prob not.. and now I’ve EP’d my own films and specials.
I want to write & direct.. I was told to focus on what I was already doing to make more money and gain more fame... I just finished a short I co-wrote and produced and directed and star in. I’ve directed my highest rated comedy specials too.
If you are feeling disenfranchised just stop letting it dictate your mood.
People suck.. lots of opinions from people doing nothing but tearing you down, so only listen to your own voice and the voices of successful people around you who want nothing from you except to see you excel.
Good luck on your journey. Take the long high road. There is more time to think about how to keep them as you’re driving towards your goals.
