Did you know the Hawaiian Island chain consists of 8 major islands and even extends up to 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers) into the Northern Pacific. However, only Hawai‘i Island (Big Island), Maui, Lāna‘i, Moloka‘i, O‘ahu, and Kaua‘i are open to visitors/tourists year round. As tourists to The Neighboring Islands (from O‘ahu), we enjoy exploring each one for its unique ambiance in both development and natural environment. Take Kaua‘i for example, where my mother was born and raised; it is home to Waimea Canyon (The Grand Canyon of the Pacific) which leads to the beautiful-breathtaking Nāpali Coast, pictured here.
