Shirley Chisholm was a politician, educator, and author. In 1968, she became the first African American woman elected to the United States Congress. She represented New York’s 12th Congressional District for seven terms. In 1972, she was the first woman and African American nominee for President of the United States from a major political party. She is a reminder to always speak up and speak loudly. #InspirationWednesday
