“This lemon shark is being cleaned by a remora. While the remora cleans, the shark uses buccal pumping in order to rest and still produce oxygen without swimming! This behavior is just one of many that was discovered beneath our shark expedition boat "Shear Water". Because this species of shark is able to stop swimming and does not grow bigger than 11 feet, I chose the lemon shark to be the species that I teach my guests how to make friends with many years ago. This allows the guests to actually see their new shark friends, seek them out and swim close to them, as they seek out more affection themselves . Living at sea 25 days a month for the last 20 years with sharks has enabled me to discover many things about sharks.
