Happy 50th Birthday to my Canadian brother from a Quebec Mother @malcolm.ingram! Anyone who’s followed my career the last few decades has heard me talk about Malcolm because Malcolm is one of my closest friends on the planet. We met at the #toronto Film Fest in ‘94 when I was there with #clerks. Once he learned what a @degrassi fan I was, Malcolm invited me to a big party thrown by @pat_mastroianni (Joey Jeremiah!). So I flew up to Canada with @tellemants and went to the party - where we learned we had no invites and were essentially crashing. Right then, I knew I’d love Malcolm for life - because he’s a ballsy risk-taker who may be the only person in the world who truly gets my career. So when documentarian Malcolm asked to do a documentary about the last 25 years of my life, I instantly said yes. If anyone understands why I do what I do for a living, it’s Malcolm - who’s been there for it all: from the tanking of Mallrats to the triumph of the Sundance Red State screening, Malcolm has been by my side through some of the best and worst moments of my career (the idea being to submit a flick for #sundance 2019 - which would mark the 25th anniversary of the debut of Clerks). Whether or not I’m truly worthy of a documentary about me is a question worth pondering for some. For me? I’ll be sitting over here appreciating my big Bear of a buddy - the only person in the world who was hell-bent on making a movie about me. Thanks, Mitch!
