We welcomed 7 cheetah cubs at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute! The cubs were born to first-time mom Erin on July 9, and all are doing well! SCBI participates in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Cheetah Species Survival Plan, which is helping to build a self-sustaining population of cheetahs in human care as wild cheetah numbers continue to decline. This is the 12th litter born at SCBI since 2010, bringing the total number of cubs born there since our Cheetah Science Facility opened to 53. #WeSaveSpecies
