I went out to the Peak District for a run with my nephew this evening. I tried to keep up with him... As he ran off into the distance I put my head down and kept my feet moving. I could feel my face becoming the colour of my top, my legs were tired, my lungs burning, sweat dripped from my forehead and a huge smile came across my face. It was hot, there was no wind and there were lots of flies but I couldn’t help but think how lucky I am to have this so close to home. I absolutely love the Peak District and it brings me so much joy to get out there and have fun with family and friends. Even if my 16 year old nephew can run along backwards next to me holding a conversation despite my short replies of yeh, mhum or a shake of the head. Chasing him down did help me knock a good few minutes off my PB though ? .
