The Coronation of King George V & Queen Mary took place #OTD in 1911.

This photograph from @royal_collection_trust shows The King & Queen leaving Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach on their way to Westminster Abbey. The Gold State Coach was built in 1762 for King George III and was first used for the King to travel to the opening session of Parliament in November of that year. The coach, which always pulled by 8 horses from The Royal Mews, has been used at every Coronation since 1831.

King George V became King on 6 May 1910 following the death of his father, King Edward VII. He reigned for 26 years until his death at Sandringham on 20 January 1936.
