The very first TEDx event at a refugee camp happened on June 9 at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in northwestern Kenya. Kakuma Camp was established in 1992 for Sudanese refugees, and it now serves 185,000 people who fled war from all across Africa. Typically, refugee representation focuses on immense devastation and suffering. This TEDx event decided to showcase stories of resilience, contribution, and creativity. Current and former Kakuma Camp refugees, international experts, and artists all gave amazing talks, sharing their hopes, dreams, and plans for a better future.
