My mom just received a response from the CEO of @sthubertsanimal about whether or not they will be supporting the NJ anti-declawing bill. I will post the note so that I don’t get accused of not reporting things correctly.
Let’s hope to hear good news in the near future that they will be supporting this important cat protection bill since they are against declawing! ? “Hi Lori, St. Hubert’s has reviewed the new legislation and we’ve recently submitted our comments to the sponsor. We are encouraged to see some of our comments to last session’s bill were implemented, notably alignment with existing NJ Statutes against debarking. As an agency domiciled and working across the state, we care deeply that there is consistency – for increased awareness and enforcement. St. Hubert’s opposes debarking and declawing procedures, as well cosmetic procedures such as tail docking and ear cropping, as identified in our official policy. We will, again, honor our process of working directly with a bill sponsor and assuring we’ve had professional communication with them prior to discussing with others.
