Jeff Johnson - been sitting on this portrait for close to 2 years now. - ever heard the phrase “don’t meet your heroes” .. well I think that’s ridiculous. Because when I met Jeff (a hero of mine) a lot of stuff started to make sense to me. / Most of us know him from 180 South, directed by Chris Malloy (another hero), an epic adventure documentary about him & a couple more of my heroes basically just “conquering the useless” - the film came out when I was a junior in high school.. right around the time I started to realized my dream of Vanlife was becoming more & more plausible. I wouldn’t be far off to estimate I’ve seen the doc close to a hundred or so times. The inspiration from the film is something I tap back into on a daily basis whether it be a quote, a beautiful shot or a mesmerizing wave Jeff or @thetorpedopeople (another hero) is gliding down. — this dream portrait came to fruition, thanks to @ben_moon (another hero), at the Makers Market a couple falls ago hosted by @the.rabbits.foot (another hero) & his wife (@poco_farm). I finally decided to share it because @outsidemagazine released the newest issue with Jeff on the cover so the time just felt right. I think we should all try to meet our heroes because we chose that role for them in our lives for a reason. I bet they won’t disappoint. Thanks for the opportunity @jeffjohnson_beyondandback
