If there is a question that I receive more than any other it would be something along these lines: “How should I begin my journaling process? What should I get? Do you think it’s okay if a beginner starts out with ____ supplies?” . . It can overwhelming when stepping into a new hobby and it’s completely normal, understandable and relatable. For me the process has always commenced with what interests or intrigues me, what I gravitate towards or anything that looks neat and I want to dip my hands in for at least one go if it. It could even just begin with a particular tool or instrument that I find cool. And certain hobbies stick while others fall away, and that is perfectly okay. You don’t really know what will captivate your interests unless you try it, right? So for me, there is no right or wrong and there are no rules. You don’t have to join any club to try something out and in fact you can make your own rules as you go. No one person or persons can own what consists of your creative space. It is yours to explore, experiment and approach as you wish. The wonderful thing about hobbies is that they are there to inspire and bring joy so there is no requirement to be at any level in skill or knowledge. It’s one of the few things in our adult lives that gives us permission to just have fun for the sake of fun. So buy the tools that you want whether they are beginner level or more sophisticated. It’s your money, preferences and fancy. Break the rules or follow them, whatever feels more suitable for your process. Don’t follow anyone’s advice (including mine) or find advice that resonates with where you are at. And last I’d say it would be beneficial to surround yourself with those who freely support, encourage and give space for you to be you especially in your creativity. “It’s your thing, do what you wanna do...” ? . . #journaling #artjournaling #creativespace #journallove #createeveryday #tnlove #vagabondnotebook #franklinchristoph #fountainpens #pelikan #lamy #ystudio #midorilove #washilove #loveforanalogue #stationerylove #plannergeek #stationerylover #onmydesk #bujospread #galenleather #pegandawl #writinglife #traveljournal #paperlove #seekinspirecreate
