José Alberto Miche, 18, says he last saw his mother on Sunday morning. After Guatemala’s #VolcandeFuego erupted later that day, he never saw her again.

“She said, ‘Goodbye my son, goodbye my son. You go slowly.’ That was the last time I saw her,” José told @gabegutierrez.

José lost 9 members of his family in the eruption, including both of his parents. His younger sister also survived. As of Tuesday, 70 people have been killed. The death toll is still expected to rise.
