Photo by @michaelclarkphoto // Isla Magdalena, a small island near Punta Arenas, Chile, is home to approximately 120,000 Magellanic penguins. This penguin kept a watchful eye on me as I moved in closer and closer but didn’t really seem to care. The island is an important breeding ground and because the penguins have no fear of humans, it is a location that is easy to visit. The penguin colony is based on the island from October through March. By February you will be able to see nearly full grown chicks sporting some very fluffy fur. There are several tour operators that will take you out to the island. Be aware, if you head out to the island, that you will probably want to dress warmly. The winds can be brutal and with the fast boats if you stand out on deck you will be chilled very quickly. #chile #penguins #islamagdalena
