Officials announced on June 1 that the remaining wreckage of United Flight 93, one of the four flights hijacked in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, will be returned this year to the Pennsylvania memorial that marks where the plane was downed in 2001. The wreckage, which the Associated Press reports is stored in shipping containers, will be buried in a restricted area of the park that is accessible only to loved ones of the victims. The final phase of the memorial, the Tower of Voices, a 93-foot-tall musical instrument that holds 40 wind chimes—one for each passenger and crew member—will be completed in time for the 17th anniversary of the attacks.
