Lava shoots out of a fissure in the Leilani Estates subdivision near Pahoa, #Hawaii, on May 28. Nearly two dozen vents have opened up in rural communities since the Kilauea volcano began erupting on May 3; at least 50 buildings, including some two dozen homes, have been destroyed by #lava since then. One person was seriously injured, the Associated Press reports, after being hit by a flying piece of lava. Since early May, authorities have ordered about 2,000 people to evacuate Leilani Estates and surrounding neighborhoods.
