Should I rename my podcast to “Complaints with Yoga Girl”?? I share this jokingly because I’m wondering - is it really news to anyone that I complain a lot?? I mean, I don’t call it complaining, I call it sharing. Venting. Processing. If you don’t resonate with it or if you don’t like me, it might come off as complaining. Sure. But if you feel it, if you align, it’s going to resonate as connection or as relief that there are people out there going through the same shit as you. Getting stuff off your chest is literal therapy. For me, the podcast has become one of my most cherished tools of processing. When I sit down to record I have no topic in mind. I turn on the mic, and just the way I would if I was doing a heart-to-heart with a friend... I share. Highs and lows. And guess what? The lows are what inspire people to reach out and share the most. Stories of resonance and thank yous and how today, they felt like they weren’t alone. 600.000 people listen every month and I have a whole episode that’s just me, crying into the mic, face full of snot, trying to get through the day after not having slept for a week! Yes - an entire podcast of me “complaining” about not sleeping, if you will. I’m privileged. I’m well aware. Does that mean that when life hits me in the face and I’m sitting in the shower with my clothes on wondering how to carry on for one more minute I should pull myself together and suck it up because in so many other ways, I’m blessed? I’ve had a hard time this past month. We have a good life - so I shouldn’t tell anyone? I should put on a fake smile, take a yoga photo, play the game? Ask permission before sharing whats hard so it doesn’t come off as ungrateful? Fuck that noise. I am who I am. I feel what I feel. I share what’s here. Call it what you want. TRY IT! Share your own. Don’t buy in to the idea that we always have to put on a brave face and soldier on. It’s 100% possible to be grateful for what you have and feel sadness and frustration at the same time. If you want to complain about my complaining, feel free. But know that when I sit down to record this weeks podcast tomorrow... I’ll speak from the heart, just the same. x #YogaGirl
