Yesterday... white bald cap... watch... as I have over a hundred times, and it still blows my mind. This is what wanting something so badly that you are willing to implement whatever it takes to achieve it looks like.... and it started with a simple “this year I want to do butterfly”. I said, “well, most 6 year olds don’t do butterfly... they wait ‘til they’re older.” And then I got bitch-slapped across the face by a 6 year old that was starting to sound more like me... than me. “So”, he said... and he was right. What the fuck did “most kids” have to do with one that came from my balls? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. So, another goal was set. And hit. This is the result of doing what’s necessary... from a kid that just turned seven a whopping 8 days before the June 1st cutoff date for the 7-8 division. A result in which every single stroke is not only a thing of beauty, but also a relentless and all out assault on that water’s dignity.... all with “slow as a snail” once again scrawled across his back.
