Food Editor @ClerkenwellBoyEC1 says "A huge congratulations to the talented & wonderful Claire of @violetcakeslondon for creating the STUNNING cake for #PrinceHarry and #MeghanMarkle's #RoyalWedding". Claire started her business as a stall holder selling cakes on #BroadwayMarket, #EastLondon, cooking from home, before opening her organic bakery in 2010.
What a fairy tale it must be to create such a special cake for the #RoyalFamily.
In a break from tradition the centerpiece was split into three pieces and each placed upon a golden throne.

The royal wedding cake has been made from 200 Amalfi lemons, 10 bottles of #Sandringham elderflower cordial, 20kg of butter, 20kg of sugar and 500 organic eggs from Suffolk.

The inside consists of layered lemon sponge that’s been drizzled with an #elderflower syrup and sandwiched using buttercream and lemon curd, while the outside has been decorated using a white buttercream made from elderflower Swiss meringue.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been heavily involved in the culinary process, with the lemon sponge made especially for the couple and the elderflower cordial made from elderflowers sourced from the #Queen’s Sandringham estate.

Violet Bakery's tasty cakes are sold at her bakery & also at Broadway Market on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
