Wedding cakes have been a tradition since Queen Victoria's day.
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s cake had three tiers and weighed 300 pounds. There were even decorations including busts of the couple on the top tier. Since then designs have evolved but the significance of the wedding cake has remained the same.
Wedding cakes made for a Royal couple are usually large enough to 2,000 people, with slices packaged up and sent to charities and organisations close to them as well as served up to the guests in attendance.
