Photos from my most recent trip to Obori Somayaki Matsunaga Kiln - now located in Nishigo Village, in southern Fukushima. Matsunaga san painted a horse (the famous symbol of Soma & Minamisoma region) for each one of us! His family also took us on a really interesting tour of the kilns, and let us try out their traditional method of pushing ink into the only cracks in pottery to create patterns. Fascinating trip ???
