The World at Night project
It was a starry night of October on the northern edge of the Navajo Nations in Utah. The iconic sombrero-shaped 60-foot (18 m) wide rock formation known as the Mexican Hat was standing under two star clusters in constellation Taurus, the Bull, both easily visible to unaided eyes. At top left, filled with young blue stars, is Pleiades or the Seven Sisters, depicted by all ancient civilizations. Near the horizon is the “>” shape Hyades, our nearest open cluster, some 150 light years away.
