Today we are sharing a selection of Abbas' images in honor of the life and work of the Magnum photographer, who sadly passed away on Wednesday, April 25, aged 74.

Abbas pursued a lifelong interest in religion and its intersection with society. From 1987 to 1994, he spent seven years photographing the daily lives of Muslims, the rituals of their faith, their spirituality as well as the rise of Islamism throughout the world. The book and exhibition, 'Allah O Akbar: A Journey Through Militant Islam', spanned twenty-nine countries and four continents.
