These sculptural glasses are made out of trash from the streets of Nairobi. Artist and @TEDFellow Cyrus Kabiru grew up next to a garbage site in Kenya, and he knew from a young age that he wanted to incorporate trash into his art. He also had a fascination with eyewear as a child, but because his family could never afford to buy him a pair, he decided to start making his own. Now he makes inventive creations out of the waste he discovers on his long walks to his studio. “I get inspired by the things that I find in the street,” he says. “I’m trying to live now the life I used to admire, but I can’t live without doing what I am doing.
