“I rarely go hiking for hiking in and of itself. But I “hike" all the time as part of other activities and it just made me realize that really I go hiking nearly every day I’m in the mountains! Sometimes it is with skis. Sometimes I’m getting to a climb, sometimes a straight up guided 1/2 or full-day hike. So for me even though I don’t think of myself as a hiker, hiking is still the core, foundational skill for being a climber, alpinist, ski tourer, and mountain guide.
