“I know it sounds simplistic, but seriously, without hiking, how would we get anywhere? Hiking allows access to the mountains; it gets us away from the car, and out into the unknown. Finding a trail is much easier than finding a parking space. Hiking gets us out of cell service, but it gets us connected with ourselves and our surroundings. Often when I’m hiking, it’s the approach to a big cliff I want to climb. The approach hike is a time to collect myself, connect with my partner, and share our intentions for the day.
