When sunlight starts stretching sideways at the end of the day, it stops reaching the water below Sunset Cliffs, a bend in the coast of San Diego where young people flock to jump from high ledges. For his series “Falling,” the photographer John Francis Peters shot bodies vaulting toward the water, buffeted in the air by shards of coastal light. Between the jump and the splash, Peters finds his subjects weightless and seemingly placeless, too. Click the link in our bio to see more images of what it looks like when we fall.
