Thank you so much for all the support before and after my race this morning!!! I'm absolutely devasted to have just missed the final by one spot again, and 0.09 of a second. I gave it everything out there today, leading for the first lap but not quite having it in the last 250m. Stil ran a seasons best of 2.00.62, which was faster than I ran at the last Commonwealth Games (I ran 2.03 in the heat and 2.01 in the semi-final and final to come 5th there). So the quality is certainly strong this year- like having the Olympic champion in my heat! I'm so inspired by all the speedy girls and also the rest of the New Zealand team, what an honour to be in the warm up tent with Val this morning before we were both on, rooming with silver medalist Holly Robinson-1 of the nicest people I've ever met! And hanging out with my incredible teammates! I am so grateful to have represented New Zealand again and it was so incredibly special being in that stadium, I'll always treasure it!! So many kiwis there including my whole immediate family. I'm so grateful to every single person who has supported me to get here, especially my family and friends, coach Danny Mackey, my support team back in Christchurch- especially my physio Tamsin, Athletics New Zealand (especially Kat, Steve and Lou for helping with a smooth build into my race here in the village) to Brigitte and Ash for having me stay in Melbourne for my training base before coming here, and to so many more people. I couldn't have got here without my family and team,I really do mean that. As every athlete knows it's a very tough sport and there are lots of ups and downs (a lot of the difficulties behind the scenes) and at times (like now) it breaks your heart, but these hard times, definitely make you stronger (sounds cheesy but is true) and help you in other areas of life. I know it's only sport but we do train so hard and invest a lot into it and I really don't like letting people down so I'm sorry for not making it out there today. I'm so grateful to know that God loves me despite my results and that his peace surpasses all understanding (Phillipians 4:7). All the best to the rest of the New Zealand team still to compete!!
