Today is the 19th annual #evergladesDay, a day to to promote awareness of this very fragile ecosystem and this carousel of photos is dedicated to just that. In 2016 I spent 9 days in the Everglades on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック in part of a climate change story, I quickly fell in love with this place. It was a very eye opening visit, learning from biologists just how delicate and threatened this ecosystem is. The Everglades, a 60 mile wide river of grass, once dominated the lower 100 miles of Florida. Over the last century it’s been drastically reduced to a few minor strongholds due to over development and heavy pollution. It’s also a place that is ground zero to ocean sea rise, already showing affects in areas. To loose this ecosystem would be a tragic and it’s important to protect what is left of this unique part of our planet. @ナショナルジオグラフィック @sea_legacy
