After flying into a hotel window, this flamingo was rescued by @vetdoest. During his recovery she discovered the flamingo had become habituated to humans early in his life and therefore couldn’t be released back into the wild. Which is why she made him an ambassador for @fdoccuracao, a local nonprofit to visit schools and other venues on Curaçao and help educate people the beauty and fragility of wildlife on the island.
Odette would rather see the bird in his natural environment, but realizes that he would never be able to survive out there. However, the idea that the bird is playing an important role in flamingo conservation in the Caribbean comforts her and in the meantime Bob seems to enjoy his new lifestyle and likes being pampered.

Not that he cares for these human snacks as he has to stay in shape. But in less than three months Bob might have become the most pretentious flamingo around. He won’t accept crustaceans like normal flamingo’s do, but rather prefers the capelin caviar that Odette feeds him.
