Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Tzintzuntzan, Mexico. In this village near the shores of Lake Patzcuaro in the Central Highlands of Michoacán, Semana Santa is celebrated throughout the week with ancient rituals and processions. The silent crimson hooded horsemen enter the church and communicate only by whistles. For most of the week the young men of the village, in their crimson hoods and mounted on horses and even donkeys patrol the streets to ensure that craftsmen or shops are not doing business as usual.
