Antonette and James were first-time parents in 2002 when @bethyarnelleedwards photographed the family in their recently purchased home in Hayward Hills, near Oakland, Calif. “We were a young and hard-working couple with dreams. We wanted to give our daughter, Danielle, the best life possible,” Antonette said. Edwards photographed the #family as part of her Suburban Dreams project, which was born out of her own disillusionment with life in the #suburbs. Fifteen years later, she returned to this home to see what had changed. Antonette and James had a son, Darien, who by the time Edwards returned was 14 years old. His older sister, Danielle, was a freshman in #college. "Time flies by quickly, so you have to enjoy your children at each stage in their lives.
