It’s okay to have an off day or week or even month. Change happens, growth happens and transitions feel awkward. Failures are inevitable. Embarrassing moments find us when we least expect it. No one has ever been able to pull off seamless charm and be smooth in every situation. Ever made a poor first impression? Or tripped and fallen flat on your face with everything in your bag flying in a very public place? Or gone completely blank during an important meeting? Or any number of things that would induce a facepalm? Age doesn’t seem to make these moments eclipse us. But you know what? It’s okay. Our value isn’t contingent on it. Opportunities might be missed and people may misjudge but new opportunities always come and the folks who matter are the ones in our life who allow room for grace. March has been a strange month with both exciting celebrations and humbling facepalms folded in the mix for me. But that’s part of journey and don’t they make for good stories later on? Remind me to one day share my public speaking nightmare where I used the word “flux” and it sounded like a very different word coming out ha!
