Debate about climate change in the absence of fact is intellectually bankrupt. It’s not enough to say we believe in something because it places us in a social strata that we identify with. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m guilty of this. As humans, I think it’s easy to base arguments on emotion and identity vs. observable reality. Truthfully, we need all these aspects of our shared humanity to inform how we come to the table to discuss our impact and future on this planet. I’ve spent the past three days in Mexico City at the @climatereality conference expanding my understanding beyond my identity and engaging with an incredible and growing group of people that are passionate about moving this dial. Climate change IS NOT political. Rather, it is moral. Politicizing this issue deepens the divide that impedes progress that we need to survive. Our future on this planet is worth saving. This isn’t about right and left, this is about every future generation that lie in wait...and if we can act, why shouldn’t we? I’d encourage anyone who wants to know more to follow @climatereality Sign up for a training, surround yourself with knowledge...invest. We can’t step outside of our emotions, but we can inform them. Indeed, as so eloquently put by founder @algore, “there are only three questions remaining in the climate debate: Must we change? Can we change? Will we change?” Arriving at the end of all the scientific data, I will simply say that I have faith.
