The death of the world's last male northern white rhino, 'Sudan', brings to mind Nabire, a female Northern white rhinoceros that I had the honor of photographing not long ago. Pictured here, she was one of the last five northern white rhinos left on Earth. She died on Monday, July 27, 2015, just one week after this photo was taken at @safari_park_dvur_kralove in the Czech Republic.
New breeding technology offers hope of resurrecting this magnificent animal using the southern white rhino as surrogates, but it's my sincere wish that we use this moment in time to stop and think about saving species and their habitats now, before even more leave us.
