When I drove from the east to the west coast years ago, the directions to my destination were written on the back of receipt paper and all I had to guide me was a trusty atlas. There was no GPS or smartphone or any easy access to the internet. I had a Nokia flip phone, a boom box and it was nothing short of glorious. The most beautiful sunset that I’ve seen to-date was when I was driving out of Oklahoma into Texas. I’d never seen so many brilliant and bold colors in the widest expanse of sky. Reminiscing about it gives me such wanderlust. I’m itching for a weekend where I pack a bag, hop in the car and experience these off grid moments, only this time around with my son. Where perhaps we dust off the same trusty atlas and see where it takes us. ?
