@alinerocha.oficial was involved in a car accident in which she suffered spinal cord injuries and loss of movement in her legs at the age of 15. She became very active during her rehabilitation and it sparked her interest in sports. Four years after the accident she started with Para athletics and eventually competed in the 2016 Rio Paralympics. The Para cross-country skier is the first Brazilian woman to compete in an edition of the Winter Paralympics. She hopes to inspire other women to want to participate in Paralympic sport and that in the future there will be more female athletes representing Brazil.
