Great perspective last night on veterans’ issues from @PaulRieckhoff (@AmherstCollege ‘98) of @IAVA. Joshua Kors (‘01) moderated the talk. Still c 20 suicides per day among US vets, but, now that the campaigning’s done, we hear little of that and are told that simply going to an NFL game & standing for the anthem is to respect the troops. More attention must be paid.
A vet, a mother of 3, traveled from Orlando, FL to NYC to speak w/ Paul about her health issues & history w/ burn pits - large, continuously burning toxic waste dumps - which, according to some, have the potential of becoming the Iraq & Afghanistan equivalent of the Vietnam War’s Agent Orange.’ Seems few others are hearing her.
