Today is International Polar Bear Day! The majestic Ursus maritimus lives on the pack ice in the polar regions. For Inuit people “nanook” is a source of material well being and has great cultural significance. Polar bears are currently listed as vulnerable due to habit loss resulting from climate change.
Knowing polar bears exist makes me happy. Let’s take care of these powerful animals. We are not only species on this small and fragile planet.
