This morning I went for a walk with my Dad. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the air felt crisp and we could see wonderful signs of spring all around. Today was a beautiful day but today was also a hard day. Today I said goodbye to my grandma, my Dad’s mother. She passed away recently. I didn’t call her grandma. To me she was Mamam. Mamam was a very happy, warm, loving person who never failed to greet you with a smile. Her smile lit up her face in a somehow cheeky and excitable way. Mamam made me feel so loved. She constantly encouraged me to go after my dreams and she would sit and listen to my tales from around the World for as long as I would tell them with genuine intrigue and often the most curious questions. I knew she was proud of me by the look on her face and the way that she hugged me. I’ll miss that look and I’ll miss those hugs. Family is important. Tell your loved ones that you love them. Hug them. Make time for them.
