You might not see him in photos much but he is here with us always, doing millions of things for our family that I sometimes take for granted. Like sometimes I’ll remember I’m out of money on my Metrocard right before I walk out the door and before I can even say this out loud, he magically produces another card and hands it to me. Or the fact that I can always count on him to stock the freezer with my favorite ice cream. Or the “battle zone” thing he does with the kids at night that I pretend to hate (it riles them up before bed time!) but really love because I can relax in the other room while listening to the sweet sounds of joy and laughter coming from the people I love most in the world. Or the times when he wakes up early on the weekend and brings home two cups of coffee from our favorite coffee shop, leaving one on my nightstand so it’s there when I wake up. Or his smile when the kids climb in bed with us early in the morning to snuggle. Or the fact that he is the one who remembers Harlow’s hip hop class is on Thursday and gymnastics is on Friday and makes sure the right outfit is packed in her bag the night before. I can’t tell you how many times we are on our way to school and I think - oh crap! Harlow has gymnastics today! Did anyone remember to pack her leotard??? And I look and it is ALWAYS there.
