I met Tamra on the streets of Charleston, SC as I was passing through. She approached me, commenting on the camera slung over my shoulder. "Are you a photographer?" She asked. "Sorta, yea, I guess so." I replied. She then asked me to take her photo. She told me she loved photos. More than anything, even. I didn't really think anything of it until she pulled out an entire photo album from her bag & flipped through them. The kind we all have in our attics that we rummage through when we're feeling nostalgic. That's when I realized her bag was her attic. It was all she had. She didn't appear homeless to me. At least, not at first.. But then I noticed the contents of the bag. Then her glasses were missing the glass. Then she just told me. "I live on the street." - I do not know why I am so drawn to poverty but the homeless inspire me. To be continued...
