There's a concept I read about that gave me some insight into why I love competition. 'Satori' occurs when attention rests in the present moment, when the body is alert, sensitive, relaxed and the emotions are open and free. Funny enough, I experience this freedom best in the high-pressure environment of finals. I dont think I'm alone in this, because I see the joy and passion in my fellow competitors. When the crowd expresses encouragement, excitement, and love, how can a person help but climb beyond their regular ability? ~
