Qualifiers were top teir vibes👌 There were people I train with 3x a week, homies I see around the gyms occasionally, and old friends I haven't seen in years, all sharing energy and beta on 15 difficult boulders. Power screams and wobblers paired with limit finishes and punts. The air was so thick with chalk my nose hairs turned white😂 The finals format took the pressure from 'everyday training' to 'no mistakes allowed', in front of a cheering and jeering crowd. The 24 finalists each had 1 try on every boulder, and after every boulder the worst performances got cut. The foot slips were absolutely devastating, keeping everyone climbing and watching on the edge of their seats. By the 5th boulder, only me and @chris_cosser were left, facing an... unlikely looking coordination move. We went back and forth for about 10 minutes, slipping and sliding on the low profile volumes (photo 4 gives insight into what it felt like). Right before we decided to call it, Chris clutched a send, and with it the title of Local Legend🛐 congrats buddy, I expected nothing less from God's favorite😉 Thank you to @pusherholds for hosting, the newly formed @outofhandpro for organizing, and @thenorthface_climb for supporting.
