Magnum photographer Philip Jones Griffiths documented the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1971, and was present for the Tet Offensive and subsequent fall-out.
.
Griffiths' book, 'Vietnam Inc.', was published in 1971, the same year that the Washington Post published the Pentagon’s secret papers on decision-making in Vietnam. While the leaked papers included details of government concerns that the war was unwinnable at a time they were publicly positive about the war, Griffiths’ own acerbic writing on the situation revealed an insight that seemed to echo much of what the U.S. government would seem to have known.
.
We revisit Griffiths' detailed on-the-ground reportage of the Tet Offensive 50 years later on magnumphotos.com. Link in bio.
