Set at 12,000ft elevation, Bolivia’s #uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world, clearly visible from space. Driving though here is otherworldly, starkly beautiful with harsh fluctuations in temperature. Hot days are filled with deceiving mirages followed by freezing temps at night, a notoriously deadly place to travel through on foot. The area was once a giant lake, connecting far into Peru. As the water retreated it left behind the giant salt flat, an estimated 10 Billion tons.
