Raramente ho riscontrato eccezioni: più grandi sono gli artisti, più gentili e generosi sono, con i colleghi e col prossimo. Come l’amico e collaboratore Eugene Kohn, complice di mille ribalte, come Plácido Domingo, un gigante della lirica dal quale non ho mai smesso di imparare.
L’immagine ci ritrae, insieme, al Teatro del Silenzio. La medesima ribalta su cui tornerò, il 28 ed il 30 luglio, per un doppio appuntamento con il capolavoro di Umberto Giordano “Andrea Chénier”: finalmente, a Lajatico, sarà messa in scena la prima opera che ho ascoltato ed imparato nella mia vita, quella che ho più amato... Un meraviglioso gioiello del teatro musicale italiano, dove l’amore trionfa e dove l’omonimo protagonista è quasi sempre in scena, con pagine potenti e commuoventi.

I found few exceptions; the bigger the artists, the kinder and more generous they are, to their colleagues and to their neighbour. Just like my friend and collaborator Eugene Kohn, with whom I shared a thousand spotlights, or Plácido Domingo, a giant of the opera stage, from whom I will never stop learning.
In this picture, we were together at Teatro del Silenzio. I will be back on the same stage on July 28th and 30th, for a double date with Umberto Giordano’s masterpiece “Andrea Chénier”; at last, the first opera I have ever listened and learned in my life, the one I have loved the most, will be staged in Lajatico... It’s a wonderful gem of Italian musical theatre, in which love triumphs and the eponymous hero is on stage most of the time, with a powerful, compelling text.
